TheΒ Reducing the Dosage series is a collection of videos following my journey as I wean myself off of Lamotrigine (Lamictal), which is a mood stabilizer often prescribed for bipolar disorder.
Dosage (2:50-5:03): It has been three months since I reduced my dosage, and now my plan is to go down in small (0.1-0.2 mg/d) increments from 12.5 mg to 0 over the next 2-4 months. I used a compounding pharmacy to make a liquid solution, as I have had poor results using my own solution. The total for a 3 month supply was about $160 plus a meeting with my psychiatrist also at $160 or so.
What I’ve Been Up To / How I’ve Been Feeling (5:03-7:44): I’ve been having suicidal urges and intense emotions that have driven me to really take care of myself on a deeper level. I did not have plans to kill myself but rather the emotions get overwhelming at times and my body feels terrible to be in, so I default to suicidal urge. After moving through these emotions skillfully I felt a surge of confidence in myself and a newfound connection to Spirit and the physical world. The medication is a buffer but does not erase problems. Developing emotional regulation skills, healing limited beliefs and practicing self-care is key. I’ve also felt joy and humor lately, along with sadness and fear.
Healing Actions I’m Taking (7:44-10:39): Kundalini Yoga and Energy Healing; weekly Group Therapy.
Next Steps / Existing Challenges (10:39): Take it day by day, focus on the present moment. Continue to go to weekly therapy. Trust my emotions as they guide me to health.
