Reducing the Dosage series is a collection of videos following my journey as I wean myself off of Lamotrigine (Lamictal), which is a mood stabilizer often prescribed for bipolar disorder.
In Episode 11, filmed in December 2019, I tell the story of how I went down too fast from 75 to 62.5 mg – it caused a subtle manic episode which I was only able to identify retrospectively as a side effect of medication withdrawal. Therefore, I did the right thing and went back up to 75 mg. This episode shows the process of self-reflection and awareness that getting off psychiatric medication requires, and emphasizes the importance of taking this process seriously, and working with a healthcare professional if needed.
